The focus of this scholarship program is to reward the youth within the Arabian horse community who have served and promoted the Arabian horse with their energy, idealism, and leadership, providing a positive role model for others.


The recipient should display dedication to their family; service to their community, school and/or church, and academic responsibility. 


DESCRIPTION:  Up to two $1,500.00 scholarships may be awarded to the top two applications from Region 13 each year


APPLICATION DEADLINE:  June 1st of each year


WHEN AWARDED:  Recipients will be notified in June and will be acknowledged at the Region 13 Show


ELIGIBILITY:

  • Resident of Region 13 within the previous two years
  • Current member of AHA through a Region 13 affiliate club
  • High School senior or freshman at an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school
  • Planning to or currently pursuing a profession that requires college or vocational/technical training at an accredited institution


CRITERIA:

  • Involvement in Equine Activities
  • Leadership
  • Sense of direction in furthering education
  • Completion of an essay
  • Academic achievement and GPA


REQUIREMENTS: (All must be submitted with your application in one envelope)

  • Three letters of recommendation written within the application year
    • One from a horse person that includes comments on applicant's equine abilities and experiences
    • One from a teacher or advisor
    • One from any other source (e.g. employer, clergyman, etc.)
  • Photocopy of high school transcript
  • Photocopy of transcripts for all college and/or other post high school education completed


Proof of acceptance from the school where the scholarship funds are to be sent will be required upon notification of winning the scholarship.


COMMENTS:

  • All scholarship forms, photocopies, and letters of reference MUST be mailed in the same envelope and postmarked on or before April 30th.  Applications and letters postmarked after that date will not be elligible for consideration. 
  • Scholarships will be paid in the name of the school or the school and recipient upon enrollment for the fall semester.  It is the recipients responsibility to notify Region 13 how the school wants the check made out. 
  • Scholarship MUST be used in the year awarded
  • Recipients are only eligible for ONE award


CHECKLIST: 

  1. Complete the application (see red box below)
  2. Answer the questions posed in the Essay Questions to Answer ( blue box below)
  3. Attach high school / college transcripts
  4. Enclose a 3" x 5" photograph (to be used for publicity, needs to include the head & shoulders of the applicant)
  5. Enclose a copy of the applicant's current AHA card
  6. Sign and enclosed the Press Release Authorization form (green box below)
  7. Mail all of the above in one envelope to:
